[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Apple may include an automatic conversation deletion feature in an updated version of Siri it will unveil at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

TechCrunch reported on May 17 that Apple is likely to put privacy protection at the core of its message in this Siri overhaul.

Apple executives will stress that the company takes a more privacy-friendly approach than other AI firms, TechCrunch said.

The new Siri could also be released as a standalone app. The Siri app is based on Google Gemini and is expected to offer users a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT, the report said. Apple, however, may impose stricter limits than other chatbots on how user information is used and how long it is kept.

For example, Siri could include a setting to automatically delete conversations after 30 days or 1 year, or to keep them indefinitely, similar to the Messages app. TechCrunch also reported that some see Apple's privacy emphasis as partly intended to offset Siri's shortcomings relative to competing products.
