Ahead of a 2026 cryptocurrency bull market, 10 early-stage projects including elizaOS, Monad, Midnight and Zora have been mentioned as candidates with “1,000x upside potential.” There is a view that money could flow into projects with low market capitalisation and strong market narratives and community scalability.

On May 14, blockchain media outlet The Crypto Basic selected and introduced 10 small crypto projects with strong growth potential, based on next-generation market narratives such as AI, privacy, Layer 1 and the creator economy. It analysed that early projects that are still smaller than major coins could generate high returns.

The candidates include AI and DeFi hybrid project elizaOS (elizaOS, ELIZAOS), high-performance Layer 1 chain Monad (Monad, MONAD), privacy-focused blockchain Midnight (Midnight, NIGHT) and on-chain creator platform Zora (Zora, ZORA). Other names on the list include decentralised GPU infrastructure project Nosana (Nosana, NOS), Monad-based liquidity staking protocol aPriori (aPriori, APR), zero-knowledge-technology-based infrastructure Zerobase (ZEROBASE, ZBT) and Solana memecoin Peanut the Squirrel (Peanut the Squirrel, PNUT). Kyuzo’s Friends (Kyuzo’s Friends, KO) and Aster (Aster, ASTER) followed.

Among market narratives, the largest pillar was still AI. elizaOS promoted a structure that provides market analysis, strategy optimisation and decentralised decision-making functions through autonomous AI agents. Nosana was designed to share idle GPU resources so AI developers can use low-cost decentralised computing infrastructure.

Privacy and zero-knowledge proof technology were also cited as key investment themes. Midnight presented “programmable privacy” as a core strategy, protecting user data and transaction information while supporting selective regulatory disclosure functions. Zerobase is focusing on developing infrastructure that strengthens scalability and data verification security using zero-knowledge technology.

Expectations for high-performance blockchains and the DeFi ecosystem were also reflected. Monad is a Layer 1 project that highlights fast processing speed, low latency and Ethereum compatibility as strengths. aPriori is building a structure that combines liquidity staking and DeFi use within the Monad ecosystem, and it also introduced an AI-based order-flow optimisation function.

The creator economy and memecoin segments were also included. Zora was introduced as a platform that helps artists, developers and communities issue and monetise digital content on-chain. Peanut the Squirrel was introduced as a Solana-based memecoin that surged on strong online buzz. The token once posted a market capitalisation of $2 billion and then fell by nearly 97 percent, but the outlet mentioned the possibility it has entered a new accumulation range after speculative supply was cleared.

The outlet warned, however, that the risks are very large, as is the potential for 1,000x returns. It said small-cap cryptocurrencies can see extreme price volatility because they lack liquidity and trading volume, and projects can also fail due to tighter regulation, security problems, weak tokenomics or a lack of funding.

As investment strategies, it suggested diversification and staggered buying. It said splitting purchases of a fixed amount could help lower the average purchase price, and that given the market’s high volatility, a long-term view and risk management are important rather than emotional responses.

Ultimately, the list is closer to a compilation of early projects that could see inflows in the next bull market than a set of recommendations guaranteeing a specific price rise. In the industry, factors seen as determining actual performance include technical capability, token structure, community scalability, developer activity and market liquidity.
