LG Electronics said on May 14 it supplied large LED signage to the new terminal at Frankfurt Airport in Germany, Europe’s largest aviation hub. It installed LED signage covering a total of 115 square metres at the central Market Place of Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3, which opened in late April.
The LED signage supplied this time meets VdS 6024, a European fire safety standard for electrical and electronic equipment, and CE-LVD/EMC safety and electromagnetic compatibility regulations. It uses components mainly applied in environments where safety is critical, such as factories, and is designed to slow the spread of fire, securing safety without additional construction work. It also provides a wide viewing angle to improve visibility from various locations and supports displaying a range of content including advertising videos and cultural content.
Airports operate displays around the clock, making stability and maintenance capabilities key factors in winning orders. LG Electronics has continued research and development to improve the durability of its commercial displays and has a rapid maintenance system in case of failures, the company said. Based on these capabilities, it has supplied commercial displays to major airports across Europe including in the UK, Italy and Hungary, and also in South Korea, the United States, Argentina, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
LG Electronics is also strengthening its commercial display product lineup and security capabilities. It is expanding its product range with offerings such as the ultra-high-definition LG MAGNIT signage, and since last year it has applied its in-house integrated security system, LG Shield, to its standard signage models (UH5Q/UH7Q). It plans to continue strengthening customised solutions for customers covering installation, operation and maintenance.
Min Dong-seon (민동선), head of the ID Business Division at LG Electronics' MS Business Division, said, "We will strengthen our leadership in the global commercial display market with customised solutions specialised for spaces where stable operation and maintenance are important, including airports."
