KakaoPay said on Tuesday it has launched an "overseas delivery" service.
KakaoPay expanded into overseas delivery after launching a domestic delivery service in 2019. It said it will provide premium, express-carrier-level services at reasonable prices through a partnership with global logistics platform Deleo Korea.
KakaoPay overseas delivery focuses on minimising the hassle of having to visit a branch in person and the inconvenience of complicated paperwork, as with its domestic delivery service.
The entire overseas delivery process is managed as a one-stop service. Users can check expected costs in advance with a "shipping cost calculator" and, after submitting a booking request, pay shipping fees quickly and easily using payment methods linked to KakaoPay. Users can also check real-time delivery status at any time on the booking details screen in the KakaoPay app, and KakaoTalk alert messages are sent at each change in status.
KakaoPay also strengthened reassurance services so users can send items with confidence. It offers a feature that lets users view videos of item inspection and repackaging carried out at Deleo Korea's logistics centre, and users can also choose an optional paid service, "Deundeun Insurance", at the time of booking that compensates 100% of the item value if an incident such as loss occurs during delivery.
The service is applied in the same way to "Global Home" so not only domestic users but also foreign residents in South Korea who want to send items to their home countries can use it conveniently.
KakaoPay plans to gradually expand countries available for delivery by reflecting user feedback, starting with five countries where demand is highest: the United States, China, Japan, Australia and Canada. The overseas delivery service can be accessed via KakaoPay Home in KakaoTalk, the "Delivery" tab in the KakaoPay app, or by searching for "Delivery" using the magnifying glass icon at the top right.
KakaoPay said the overseas delivery service is the result of combining the "user convenience" it pursues with logistics to dramatically reduce complex overseas delivery procedures. It said it will continue to enhance an integrated logistics experience that enables domestic and overseas delivery, payment and reassurance management with KakaoPay alone.
