Users will soon be able to check unclaimed national tax refunds through the post office mobile banking app.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Service said it will provide an unclaimed national tax refund inquiry service through Itda Banking from April 28.

"Find National Tax Refunds" is a service that checks, on the National Tax Service’s Hometax, national tax refunds that have been approved but not claimed. Post office customers can use the Itda Banking app to view the status of unclaimed national tax refunds generated over the past five years.

It will also offer a function that links to the Hometax mobile web so customers can receive payments into an account after checking a refund. Customers can copy their post office account number from the service screen and conveniently apply on Hometax for the refund payment.

The rollout of the unclaimed national tax refund inquiry service is an example of inter-ministry cooperation under the Interior and Safety Ministry’s digital service opening policy. The Postal Service is strengthening its role as a public platform for citizens by providing a range of public services, including tax refund convenience, in addition to financial services through post office mobile banking.

Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Postal Service, said cooperation with the National Tax Service has made it easier for post office customers to find their valuable national tax refunds. He said the service will continue to introduce a range of services to improve convenience in daily life.
