[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] Samsung Electronics is said to be considering reshaping the rear design of its Galaxy flagship smartphones. As the possibility of changes to the camera layout and module form is raised, there is also speculation that the Galaxy design identity itself could change.

According to IT outlet PhoneArena on April 27 (local time), Samsung is internally reviewing options such as adjusting the position of the rear camera island or newly configuring the camera arrangement. The key point is that the long-standing vertical triple-camera design could be changed.

Current Galaxy flagships have become known for a configuration that lines up individual lenses vertically. The design has served as a signature brand element in recent years, but if changes are made, they are expected to be noticeable to users.

The industry says that if such changes are reflected in actual products, they are likely to be applied first to the flagship lineup. In that case, the new design could be unveiled for the first time in the Galaxy S27 series, expected to launch early next year. It has also been mentioned that it could later spread to the mid-range Galaxy A series.

Samsung previously strengthened design consistency in the Galaxy S26 lineup by unifying corner curvature and the camera protrusion. An analysis says it could similarly expand a design language that starts with the flagship models across its entire product range.

The latest changes are not yet decided. The report said the current stage is an internal review, and whether it will be adopted and the final form have not been determined.

The market is watching which direction Samsung will choose. Specific designs have not been disclosed, including whether it will integrate the rear cameras into one large module or shift to a horizontal or circular arrangement. Still, as the possibility of a structural change rather than a simple tweak has been raised, interest is growing in the company's next flagship strategy.

Two points will be watched going forward: whether Samsung Electronics keeps its existing camera placement approach or shifts to a new design, and whether the change spreads to the mid-range lineup. If the change is realized, it is expected to have a significant impact on the overall exterior strategy of Galaxy smartphones.
