Naver said on April 28 it launched a beta version of its artificial intelligence (AI) search service, AI Tab, for Naver Plus membership users.

The newly introduced AI Tab is a conversational search service that understands user search intent and context and expands the scope of exploration through dialogue. Its biggest feature is stronger connectivity across Naver vertical services such as integrated search, Shopping, Place, Blog and Cafe, supporting everything from exploration to execution on a single screen.

AI Tab provides information by combining domain-specific data accumulated in the Naver ecosystem with user-generated content (UGC). It supports users in understanding information and making decisions without having to check countless reviews one by one.

For example, if a user asks, "Tell me a cafe near Hwadam Forest that is good for a date and has a pretty view," it provides guidance by comprehensively analyzing Naver Place information, visitor reviews and blog posts. Users can check details and proceed with a reservation in the right-hand area of the PC screen. For queries such as, "Recommend a four-door refrigerator that many newlywed couples buy," it provides a product selection guide and recommended items, and users can check details and proceed to purchase immediately.

AI Tab is currently available through the main Naver PC search bar, below AI Briefing, and integrated search results for Shopping and Place. Naver plans to expand its availability to all users and to the main mobile search bar in the first half of this year.

At the time of an official launch, it plans to optimize response speed and continue improving performance for consecutive queries with complex conditions. Within this year, it plans to link Smart Lens to strengthen the multimodal AI search experience and upgrade the service to proactively suggest additional queries.

Naver CEO Soo-yeon Choi (최수연) said, "AI Tab is a turning point in Naver's search paradigm, expanding from exploration to execution," and added, "We will strengthen connections with Shopping and local vertical services to provide AI search experiences in daily life, and ultimately pursue an integrated agent that links to execution."
