SKtelink said on Sunday it will launch an "Easy SIM" that is compatible across mobile virtual network operators on SK Telecom’s network through Emart24.

The Easy SIM is a shared SIM that can be used in common by MVNOs using the SKT network, without being limited to a specific MVNO brand. Customers can buy the Easy SIM at about 5,500 Emart24 stores nationwide, choose a plan from their preferred MVNO and activate service immediately.

Until now, SKT has had a separate dedicated SIM for each MVNO, creating the inconvenience of having to replace the SIM when moving to another provider. With the launch of the Easy SIM, convenience for SKT MVNO users is expected to improve.

MVNOs using the SKT network can use the shared SIM to strengthen the competitiveness of their plans and services. It also improves operating efficiency and market access by moving away from a structure in which individual operators had to run their own offline distribution networks and logistics systems.

SKtelink will also open a dedicated portal site for the Easy SIM. The portal will provide related information, including an introduction to the Easy SIM, participating operator information, where to buy it and delivery guidance.

SKT network MVNOs plan to run various giveaway promotions for customers who buy and activate the Easy SIM through Emart24 stores until the end of next month.
