Ryu Je-myeong (류제명), second vice minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, held an "University ICT Research Center (ITRC) Youth Talent Roundtable" on April 24 with young talent working in artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communications technology (ICT). He heard about their growth experiences and challenges in the field.

The roundtable, a key event of the "ITRC Talent Development Fair 2026," discussed support measures needed for ICT master's and doctoral students to grow into next-generation leaders. Participants included Han In-su (한인수), a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Yoo Sang-yoon (유상윤), chief executive of Aim Intelligence, as well as former ITRC participants and 13 master's and doctoral students currently taking part in the ITRC programme.

Han introduced a case in which he took part in developing TurboQuant technology to improve the memory efficiency of AI models through cooperation with global research institutions, based on his experience participating in ITRC.

Yoo shared his experience of founding a startup in the generative AI security field after participating in ITRC, as well as cooperating with global big tech companies and securing investment. A free discussion covered capabilities needed by young researchers and entrepreneurs, the research environment and directions for policy support.

Ryu said, "Master's and doctoral talent who will lead our AI and ICT future are a key pillar supporting national competitiveness." He added, "We will strengthen support needed for more young people to grow into global leaders."
