Nexon officially announced on April 23 that it will end service for its casual online TPS “Bubble Fighter,” which it has operated for 17 years since its 2009 launch, on June 24.

Bubble Fighter is the third game based on the Crazy Park intellectual property (IP), following “Crazy Arcade” and “KartRider.” It has maintained a long-term user base with distinctive gameplay in which players use water guns to put opponents into a bubble state and then pop them to score points.

Nexon explained the reason for the shutdown, saying it judged it difficult to provide a service that would satisfy users when considering the current user environment and operating conditions.

After the regular maintenance on the day, the in-game shop service, the Level Up Plus event, and events for new and inactive users ended immediately. The Free Day event will be extended, and added benefits for weapons, outfits, accessories and characters will support gameplay until the service ends.

Refunds will cover all paid products purchased between Feb. 22 and April 23. Items bought with Nexon Cash will be refunded to the payment method regardless of whether they were used. Refund requests will be accepted until July 29, and refund amounts will be paid out sequentially starting in mid-August.

The service shutdown aligns with Nexon’s “selection and concentration” strategy focused on IPs with clear chances of success, which it said at a Capital Market Briefing (CMB) last month. It is viewed as part of a business restructuring to wind down projects with low profitability and growth potential and concentrate capabilities on core IPs.
