Oracle has strengthened cooperation with Google Cloud and unveiled an Oracle AI Database Agent that lets users query databases in natural language without SQL, SiliconANGLE reported on Tuesday.

The Oracle AI Database Agent is based on integration between Gemini Enterprise and Oracle AI Database and is offered through Google Cloud Marketplace. It is aimed at customers running Oracle Autonomous AI Database on Google Cloud.

Arpan Shah (아르판 샤), senior vice president of product marketing for Oracle Database, said most business users previously had to ask IT teams to get answers to questions or receive reports. He said users can now ask questions directly in natural language through Gemini Enterprise.

The company said the Oracle AI Database Agent handles all query processing inside the database without moving or duplicating data to a separate AI pipeline. It said user identity is propagated from the interface to the database based on deep data security features that support row- and column-level access controls, and each user can view only the data they are authorized to access.

Oracle said it can also cut token-based processing costs for external AI services by handling semantic interpretation and query generation inside the database.

Oracle said it also supports agent-to-agent communication, allowing developers to integrate its agents into complex workflows. It added that it can also connect to applications based on Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform.

The agent will be provided at no additional cost to existing customers using Oracle Autonomous AI Database on Google Cloud. It will be available on a limited basis at first and is set for an official launch after this summer.
