The Broadcasting Media Communication Commission and the Korea Communications Agency will take part in the 9th Cannes International Series Festival in Cannes, France, from April 23 to 28. They will hold an investment presentation and screenings to support the overseas expansion of Korean broadcast content, they said on April 23.
Cannes International Series is the world's largest drama festival held annually in Cannes, France. It introduces outstanding content such as new dramas and documentaries from around the world, along with side events including screenings of major international dramas, an awards ceremony and networking events. About 40 countries participate each year, with more than 300 industry professionals attending, and visitor numbers reaching up to about 20,000.
Four works will take part in the investment presentation on April 23: Secret Inspector (CJ ENM), Bloody Flower (EO Contents Group), Gokdu (Film Company 36) and 21st Century Daegunbuin (Munhwa Broadcasting Corp). They will present the projects and hold investment talks for overseas broadcasters, production companies and investors. On April 24, three works will be screened in a non-competition section event, a screening with an audience Q&A: God's Bead (SLL), Everything About You (Film Diary) and Zenfluencer (Muam). Five actors are set to attend the screening, including Ahn Bo-hyun (안보현) and Claudia Kim (수현) for God's Bead, Chani (찬희) for Everything About You, and Bae Yoon-kyung (배윤경) and Moon Ji-in (문지인) for Zenfluencer. They are scheduled to greet the audience on stage and give interviews to overseas media.
Bamiongwi Chairman Kim Jong-cheol (김종철) said the competitiveness of Korean broadcast content comes from planning capabilities that combine subjects and sensibilities unique to Korea with themes that can resonate worldwide, and from production efficiency using artificial intelligence technology. He said support will be expanded so creative broadcast content can connect naturally with overseas markets.
