Yes24 launches AI reading solution RBTI Lab to analyse reading tendencies

Yes24, a cultural content platform, launched an AI-based reading solution called RBTI Lab (Reader Behavior Type Indicator Lab) to mark World Book Day, it said on Wednesday.

The service analyses a reader’s tendencies into 16 types through a simple test and provides a personalised reading experience, the company said. It is designed to help users identify their reading style in a format similar to MBTI, a personality type test.

The service derives types based on combinations of four criteria: informational or entertainment, analytical or empathetic, cover-to-cover or selective, and depth or breadth. It provides an explanation of reading tendencies by type and suggests points to improve, offering practical guidance on reading direction.

Using AI-based recommendations, it suggests books and authors that match an individual’s reading tendencies and also provides reviews from readers with similar tendencies. It also calculates a personal Reading Power score based on Yes24 activity data such as purchases and reviews, and recommends various reading activities to help raise the score.

Lee Jae-seop (이재섭), head of Yes24's data analysis task force, said it was meaningful to launch RBTI Lab on World Book Day after preparing it for a long time to expand the book market and attract a wider range of readers as the country's largest online bookstore. He said the company will continue to advance the service so readers can better understand their preferences and reading tendencies and feel closer to books.
