Three major centralized exchanges including OKX, Bybit and Bitget are requiring all employees to use artificial intelligence tools daily.

According to blockchain media outlet BeInCrypto on Tuesday, some exchanges are even reflecting AI token usage in performance metrics, treating AI as core operating infrastructure rather than an option.

Approaches differed by exchange. OKX has adopted Anthropic’s Claude Enterprise for all employees. Bybit, on instructions from CEO Ben Zhou (벤 저우), provided Claude and OpenClaude across the company. Bitget required employees to meet a minimum daily AI usage standard during quarterly evaluation periods.

Reliance on AI was particularly pronounced in development organizations. Some exchanges require more than 90 percent of code to be written with AI assistance. At least one has made individual token usage a key performance indicator and directly reflects large language model use in evaluations.

The push also aligns with results already reported. Bybit said engineering productivity improved 30 percent through AI4SE and is targeting an increase in efficiency of up to 50 percent across the entire software development process. Bitget also said it cut hiring time by 38 percent after introducing AI-based recruiting.

The exchanges’ internal AI expansion also aligns with workforce reshuffling across the crypto industry. Gate’s recent industry employment white paper pointed to AI’s impact spreading faster than expected. Crypto.com cut 12 percent of its workforce in the first quarter of 2026, and demands grew for remaining employees to integrate AI into daily tasks.

Executives also view AI as part of operating systems. Zhou earlier this month at Paris Blockchain Week defined AI not as a consumer feature but as core operating infrastructure for financial platforms. Debate continues, however, over whether token usage is an indicator of actual productivity. Critics said it could increase usage without creating value, while supporters cited shorter development timelines and faster releases.

Anthropic is also rapidly adding customers in the enterprise market. Anthropic, which developed Claude, said it has more than 1,000 corporate customers paying at least $1 million a year. Bybit said it is joining a list of companies moving to integrate AI across enterprises and said, "Companies that do not make this transition immediately will fail." It added, "Companies that move slowly will fall behind," and said companies combining top performers with optimal AI tools will secure an advantage.
