Jeong Jae-heon (정재헌), chief executive of SK Telecom, left the country on April 22 to join President Lee Jae-myung’s economic delegation on a trip to Vietnam.

Jeong took part in the opening event of the World IT Show held at COEX in Seoul on Tuesday morning, then departed for Vietnam in the afternoon. Ahead of the opening, he visited SKT’s booth to check preparations and spoke with Second Vice Minister Ryu Je-myung (류제명) of the Ministry of Science and ICT and others.

The Vietnam economic delegation is reported to include Chey Tae-won (최태원), chairman of SK Group and head of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong (이재용), Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun (정의선) and LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo (구광모), the heads of the country’s four major conglomerates. Jeong is joining as part of the SK Group delegation.

Jeong previously said in a keynote speech at the "SK AI Summit 2025" in November last year that the company was pushing to build an AI data centre in Vietnam with SK Innovation. During the trip, cooperation measures on AI infrastructure centred on AI data centres are expected to be a focus of discussions.
