Samsung SDS on Tuesday held the 'Samsung SDS Industry Day' seminar for financial-sector clients and introduced a finance innovation strategy and execution direction centred on generative AI.
About 150 IT managers and decision-makers from banks, insurers and securities firms attended the event. In a keynote speech, Lee Ji-hwan (이지환), head of Samsung SDS's financial consulting team and a managing director, introduced AI technology capabilities applicable across the financial industry and practical innovation cases. He also presented digital transformation strategies tailored to the financial industry and development directions for AI-based finance.
Subsequent presentations introduced various financial IT innovation measures, including Samsung SDS's next-generation insurance system 구축 solution, NexFinance Core 2.0; development automation using AI code agents; a financial code modernisation case based on AI agents; building a data platform for AI use; and Global Development Center (GDC) collaboration cases.
In particular, financial code modernisation highlighted a case at a domestic securities firm that converted an existing C language-based system into Java code through AI agents. The company said the case drew attention as an example of resolving financial system modernisation tasks that had been delayed due to high conversion costs and a shortage of specialised personnel.
Samsung SDS presented a way to automatically convert existing systems to new programming language-based systems through its FabriX AI agent platform's code conversion agent. It stressed that financial institutions can pursue system modernisation more efficiently through this.
It also introduced the GDC collaboration model and shared measures to ease the financial sector's shortage of IT personnel and increase the speed of AX transformation.
Samsung SDS plans to continue expanding its seminars for clients across industries such as manufacturing and distribution and services, following a public-sector seminar in March. It also plans to actively support clients' work innovation and productivity improvements based on generative AI and industry-specific solutions. Hwang Soo-young (황수영), Samsung SDS vice president in charge of finance, said, "This seminar is a venue to share AI-based innovation directions and implementation cases applicable across the financial industry." He added, "We will continue to support the financial industry's AX transformation based on Samsung SDS's technological capabilities and experience."
