Woori Financial Group said on Tuesday it was selected as a top 10 percent company in global credit rating agency S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).

S&P Global’s CSA is a system that comprehensively evaluates the financial and ESG performance of major companies worldwide and selects those to be included in the Sustainability Yearbook. This year, about 9,200 companies across 59 industries were assessed, and 848 were included in the yearbook.

Woori made the top 10 percent in the banking industry group. In the assessment process, it was recognized for performance in key areas such as its strategy to respond to the climate crisis, expansion of inclusive finance and human capital management. The group explained that building a climate response system based on cutting carbon emissions and expanding products and services for financially vulnerable groups were reflected positively.

Woori Chairman Jong-ryong Lim (임종룡) said, "This assessment is the result of our ESG achievements being confirmed internationally." He added, "We will continue to strengthen our response to climate change, expand green and transition finance, and support vulnerable groups."
