Work Sphere said the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s People’s Economy Bureau visited its headquarters on April 17 and held an on-site meeting to review employment market changes and policy response directions as AI spreads.

The meeting was arranged to review labour market changes based on actual recruitment data and draw policy implications as hiring structures across industries are rapidly being reshaped by the spread of AI technology.

The People’s Economy Bureau is an organisation that comprehensively manages the broader people’s economy, including prices, employment and households. It carries out functions to coordinate employment and workforce policies and is responding to the rapidly changing labour market environment.

The meeting was attended by officials including People’s Economy Bureau Director Lee Ju-seop (이주섭) and members of the Employment Service Strategy Team. Work Sphere was represented by Chief Executive Yoon Hyun-joon (윤현준) and other executives and staff.

Discussions covered the labour market broadly, including changes in hiring demand and job structures since the spread of AI, labour market analysis based on data from the regular employment hiring platform JobKorea, changes in capabilities sought by companies and the status of youth hiring mismatches.

Based on its own data, Work Sphere said structural changes are emerging in the recruitment market, with demand expanding for hiring centred on AI and digital capabilities while hiring is being reduced and reshaped in some jobs. It also identified the widening gap between practical skills required by companies and job seekers’ level of preparation as a key issue, saying the mismatch problem is worsening.

Work Sphere CEO Yoon said, "As AI spreads and structural changes in the recruitment market accelerate, it is highly meaningful to be able to discuss policy directions together based on on-the-ground data." He added, "We will continue to contribute to establishing effective, data-based employment policies through close cooperation with the government and keep strengthening our role as a platform connecting companies and job seekers."
