KISA to hold free briefing on cryptographic module development consulting on April 28

The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) will hold a briefing on April 28 at its Seoul office on a “consulting project for developing cryptographic module submissions” to support efforts with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intelligence Service to strengthen development capabilities at micro and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The briefing will cover details of the 2026 consulting project for developing cryptographic module submissions, introduce the cryptographic module verification system, and share cases and results from beneficiary companies. It will also include a question-and-answer session to address practical questions from company staff seeking to take part.

Applications to attend can be made through advance registration from April 21 to 27. Any domestic micro or small and medium-sized enterprise interested in cryptographic module verification can apply.

After the briefing, KISA plans to select 5 companies for the consulting programme through a separate notice. It will provide the selected companies with fully free, one-on-one customised consulting tailored to each company’s situation, including interpreting cryptographic module verification standards, providing cryptographic module samples and guides, helping prepare mandatory submissions for verification, and transferring cryptographic module design and implementation techniques.

The cryptographic module verification system is used to verify the safety and implementation suitability of cryptographic modules introduced into state and public institutions. Information security systems, quantum cryptography communications equipment, and products whose main function is cryptography must be equipped with cryptographic modules verified under the system to be introduced into state and public institutions.

Park Hae-ryong (박해룡), head of KISA’s AI Security Technology Division, said the importance of reliable cryptographic modules is growing as the use of cryptographic technologies expands. He said he hopes the briefing will serve as a chance to confirm the practical benefits of the support programme and to take part in it, and added he expects strong interest from capable companies.
