South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said on Sunday it had laid the groundwork to expand cooperation with India in science and technology and in artificial intelligence and digital fields, following President Lee Jae-myung (이재명)'s state visit to India.
The ministry signed a Digital Bridge Framework with India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It will pursue joint research and development to secure advanced technologies, hold regular consultation bodies and cooperate with related international organisations.
It also signed a science and technology cooperation MOU with India's Department of Science and Technology to pursue policy sharing, industry-academia-research exchanges and joint research in key technology fields including biotechnology, quantum, semiconductors and critical mineral processing.
The two countries expect they will be able to secure future growth engines together by combining each country's strengths. They plan to discuss specific cooperation measures through a future inter-ministerial consultation body.
