Kakao Mobility said on Sunday it will begin its third year of activities for 'Give Shuttle', a social contribution campaign that combines volunteering and travel. Give Shuttle operates as a voluntour program and provides everything from volunteer sign-ups to free shuttle rides through the Kakao T app.
Give Shuttle adopts a 'Give & Get' format that provides professional talks, meals and commemorative goods in addition to volunteer opportunities, aiming to lower barriers to participation. This year it will expand collaborations with brands and well-known figures, focusing on spreading a culture of volunteering in everyday life. The first session will be held on April 29 with fresh handmade cosmetics brand Lush Korea at the Lush Dumulmeori store under the theme of 'resource circulation'. Lush Korea Ethics Director Wonjung Park (박원정) will host a 'Deep Dive Talk' to share the brand philosophy and campaign story.
Programs will include resource-circulation volunteer activities, vegan catering made with seasonal vegetables grown through ecological farming in Yangpyeong, and making reusable eco-friendly goods. Participants can apply through the Give Shuttle banner under 'Shuttle' in the 'When moving' tab in the Kakao T app, via 'Shuttles currently recruiting'. Recruitment will be on a first-come, first-served basis at 2 p.m. on April 21 (first round) and 2 p.m. on April 22 (second round), for a total of 70 participants. Participation is free, and participants will receive official volunteer hours through the '1365 Volunteer Portal'.
Give Shuttle has been run 11 times over the two years since its launch in 2024. Total participation stands at 539 people, and 98 percent of participants said they were willing to volunteer again after taking part in Give Shuttle. Based on these results, it was presented as a corporate social contribution model case at the '2024 World Volunteer Conference' and was also listed as a best practice in a report by the Seoul Public Interest Activities Support Center.
Kakao Mobility CEO Keungseon Ryu (류긍선) said, "Give Shuttle is a project that began with the goal of delivering a warm helping hand to places that need social attention through the mobility platform's transportation services." He said, "This year, we will collaborate with various brands and influencers to help more users experience volunteering as an enjoyable part of everyday culture, and through this we will continue to expand the platform-based positive influence."
