South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity will hold a public vote from April 20 to 22 to select the most anticipated programme ahead of the opening of the '2026 Korea Science Festival with Korea Science and Technology Fair', they said on Saturday.

The festival will be held for three days from April 24 to 26 at Hall 4 of Exhibition Center 1 at KINTEX. A total of 117 organisations will take part, running 319 programmes.

The event will feature technology exhibits centred on government-funded research institutes, which are marking the 60th anniversary of science and technology research and the 10th anniversary of their founding. It will also introduce future core research including recent basic and fundamental research results, artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology transformation (AX), next-generation strategic technologies and the K-Moonshot Project.

It will also offer various science experience opportunities. Visitors will be welcomed by the 'Science Masterpiece Art Museum', in which AI explains famous paintings capturing important scientific moments, and the 'AI Science Song Camp', which uses AI to create professional, high-end music and images.

At the centre of the exhibition hall, physical AI experience programmes will be held, including an AI robot boxing show, robot barista and ice cream making, an AI omok game and a dance challenge. National science museums will present hands-on programmes using mobile exhibits. Lectures on AI are also planned.

Anyone can take part in the public vote through the festival's official portal. Voters will select 3 anticipated programmes from a total of 19. Prizes will also be given to 100 voters selected by lottery.
