The post office has 마련했다 measures to cooperate by discounting postage to help small export companies reduce overseas shipping costs.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Service said on Saturday it will offer an additional 4 to 6 percent discount on postage when international mail contract customers send items overseas via the post office’s international express mail service, EMS, and EMS Premium from April 20 through May 31.

The discount applies equally to firms that already have contracts with the post office and to those that sign new contracts during the discount period. The Postal Service is also running an EMS Premium discount event for individual customers sending gifts to relatives and others overseas for Family Month.

The discount was prepared to reduce the burden on small export companies due to a recent rise in international oil prices. The Postal Service decided to freeze air transport fees to help stabilise consumer prices despite higher fuel costs. It expects contract customers to feel savings of about 10 percent or more from the postage discount and the air transport fee freeze.

Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Postal Service, said, "Going forward, the post office will continue to find various cooperation measures as a reliable logistics partner for South Korea’s export companies."
