Hana Financial Group said on April 19 it held an awards ceremony on April 17 at Hana Bank's Euljiro headquarters to mark the Day of Persons with Disabilities for the fifth Hana Art Bus art contest for artists with developmental disabilities.
The contest is an annual programme Hana Financial Group has run since 2022 for artists with developmental disabilities.
A total of 1,255 people took part over about three months from November last year to February this year. Winners were chosen after judging by a panel from Hanyang University's Art and Design Education Center. They included 20 in the adult category and 10 in the children and youth category, for a total of 30 awardees.
A total of 10.2 million won in prize money will be paid. Some winners in the adult category will be offered internship opportunities at the social enterprise Springshine.
The top prize in the adult category went to artist Park Chan-ho (박찬호) for "Forest of Sound". The top prize in the children and youth category went to artist Choi Yoo-jin (최유진) for "Good Friends Laughing Together".
The winning works will be exhibited until April 24 on the first floor of Hana Bank's Euljiro headquarters. They will then be shown at H.art1 from May 4 to 15. The grand prize and excellence award winners are also due to be exhibited at ART BUSAN 2026, to be held at Busan's BEXCO from May 21 to 24.
Hana Financial also produces and sells collaborative merchandise using past winning works with partners including Coffeebean Korea, Monami and Puma. Proceeds are used to support artists with developmental disabilities. Fifty percent of sales revenue is paid to participating artists.
