[Digital Today reporter Sangyeop Oh (오상엽)] South Korea's KOSPI edged down on Thursday to close in the 6,100 range. A wait-and-see mood persisted ahead of ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran over the weekend, with most heavyweights ending lower.

The KOSPI closed down 34.13 points, or 0.55 percent, at 6,191.92. The index opened up 1.28 points, or 0.02 percent, at 6,227.33, but soon turned lower.

By investor type, individuals and institutions were net buyers of 1.4459 trillion won and 150.3 billion won, respectively. Foreigners were net sellers of 1.9971 trillion won. They switched to net selling after 4 sessions.

Most of the top 10 stocks by market capitalisation ended lower. Samsung Electronics closed down 0.69 percent at 216,000 won, while SK Hynix fell 2.34 percent to end at 1,128,000 won.

Hanwha Aerospace fell 6.32 percent, Doosan Enerbility lost 2.08 percent, SK Square slipped 1.16 percent and Samsung Biologics declined 0.93 percent.

Hyundai Motor rose 0.75 percent, LG Energy Solution gained 0.48 percent and Kia added 0.82 percent.

The Kosdaq closed up 7.07 points, or 0.61 percent, at 1,170.04.

The won was last at 1,483.60 per dollar at the close, down 2.80 won from the previous session.
