Google said on Thursday it released its 2025 Ads Safety Report covering its global ad-blocking results.
The report said Google blocked and removed more than 8.3 billion inappropriate ads worldwide last year. It suspended 24.9 million advertiser accounts globally. It took action against more than 245,000 publisher sites that violated policies.
It used Gemini, its latest artificial intelligence model, in its ad safety system to block more than 99 percent of policy-violating ads before they were shown to users.
In South Korea, a total of 175.5 million ads were removed last year. It suspended 326,000 advertiser accounts that violated ad policies.
Major types of ad policy violations in South Korea were copyright, abuse of ad networks, dating and matchmaking services, misrepresentation and sexual content.
A Google official said industry action is required to respond to the changing ad safety environment in line with advances in AI technology. The official said Google would work with partners and use AI technology to provide users and publishers with a safe online experience.
