Korea Association for Information and Communication Technology Promotion (KAIT) said on April 17 it launched the Council for Revitalising the Used Device Industry with used device distributors on April 16.
KAIT will use the council to share trends in the used device industry and promote its growth. It will also work to improve and expand a certification system for safe used-device traders and a service that confirms used-device transaction records. The council will also seek ways to jointly respond to difficulties faced by used-device businesses.
The Ministry of Science and ICT and KAIT have operated the certification system for safe used-device traders and the used-device transaction record confirmation service since last May to foster a sound and transparent used device market.
Lee Han-soo (이한수), a director at Bungaejangter, who was elected chair of the council, said he hoped the council would help further revitalise the domestic used device industry and create an opportunity to build public trust. He said active cooperation among companies would build a sustainable environment for the used device industry.
Kim Jeong-gi (김정기), KAIT's standing vice chairman, said he hoped participating companies would cooperate with one another to shape a market in which people can trade used devices in a sounder and safer environment. He said he also hoped the council would become established as one that helps the used device industry grow.
