Anthropic experienced an outage that drove up error rates across its Claude chatbot, API and Claude Code, CNBC reported on April 15.
Downdetector, a site that compiles outage reports, said about 6,000 people had reported problems related to Claude as of 10:42 a.m. on April 15. The figure fell to about 2,000 by 1:12 p.m. It dropped to about 500 by 1:34 p.m.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers and executives, and as of February this year its corporate value was estimated at $380 billion. As products including Claude Code have grown explosively over the past year, it has been competing fiercely with Google and OpenAI for the enterprise market.
