IMI said on Wednesday it delivered funding to Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Maeum Sarang Hospital for cultural and arts programmes aimed at helping people with mental illness recover.
The sponsorship is part of IMI's social contribution programme, the "Possibility On" project. The project started on Tuesday and will run through November. IMI will support the materials needed to run the cultural and arts programme and provide prizes for exhibition award-winners.
The programme will target people from children and teenagers to adults in their 60s who suffer severe mental illnesses such as addiction and depression. It will begin with cultural and arts sessions led by invited professional instructors and proceed through a contest, an awards ceremony, an exhibition, and the production of booklets and goods.
Works completed by participants will be exhibited at cultural spaces around Jeonju, including venues run by the Wanju Cultural Foundation. Outstanding works are set to be produced as booklets and goods and shared with the local community.
IMI and the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Maeum Sarang Hospital have continued their cooperation since last year. As part of its youth support programme "Dream Your Dream", IMI delivered backpacks and handwritten letters to children and teenagers who were hospitalised and receiving treatment.
An IMI official said the company carried out the sponsorship to support the recovery of people with mental illness through cultural and arts activities and to improve awareness of mental health in the local community. The official said IMI will continue its support through the Possibility On project.
