KT Skylife said on Wednesday it will broadcast all matches of the 52nd Korea Journalists Association Seoul regional soccer tournament using its artificial intelligence (AI)-based sports analysis solution, Capture.

Capture is a sports broadcasting platform in which an AI camera automatically tracks and films player movement and the ball’s trajectory, and automates the entire process through editing and transmission. It can provide high-definition match video without separate professional filming staff, improving access to broadcasts at grassroots sports venues.

KT Skylife signed a business agreement with the Korea Journalists Association in September last year and broadcast the 51st Korea Journalists Association Seoul regional soccer tournament using Capture.

Capture has also been introduced to professional clubs. Starting with KT wiz last year, KT Sonicboom, Lotte Giants and Paju Frontier FC (K2 League) have built broadcasting facilities at their training grounds. More local governments are also adopting Capture. AI sports broadcasting systems were introduced at 10 stadiums nationwide in the first quarter of this year alone, including in Ulsan and Yongin.

Cho Jun-hwan (조준환), head of the Future Strategy TF at KT Skylife, said, "Capture is a service that enables high-quality broadcasting at an economical cost." He added, "It will become a starting point for smart sports infrastructure that can be shared at the same time as it is recorded."
