LG CNS said on April 15 it unveiled its mobile shuttle logistics automation robot at Modex 2026, a logistics exhibition that opened in Atlanta, Georgia.

The company said the product is designed to operate reliably in temperatures as low as minus 26 degrees Celsius, allowing it to be applied to cold-chain logistics areas such as food and distribution.

The mobile shuttle uses dozens or hundreds of shuttle robots that move within warehouse shelving at a speed of 1.5 metres per second. Each shuttle robot can load up to 1,500 kg of goods. It uses a four-way shuttle structure that enables forward, backward, left, right and vertical movement, minimising route constraints and allowing flexible logistics flows. Through a high-density storage structure, it delivers goods storage efficiency of more than 30 percent compared with existing logistics facilities centred on two-direction movement.

LG CNS also equipped the mobile shuttle with AI agent functions. For example, when exceptions such as an urgent shipment occur, workers on site can directly control shuttle robots simply by issuing instructions to a chatbot in natural language. If an abnormality occurs in a shuttle robot, the AI agent can analyse the cause and present response measures to workers.

The mobile shuttle is designed to transport not only general cargo but also cylindrical cargo such as automotive batteries. The company also stressed that it has obtained UL certification, a mandatory U.S. safety standard for electrical, electronic and mechanical facilities, and that companies across industries such as manufacturing, distribution and automotive can select shuttle robot types and materials to build customised logistics systems suited to site conditions.

Jun-ho Lee (이준호), an executive vice president and head of LG CNS' Smart Logistics and City business division, said the company had expanded the scope of logistics automation by using the mobile shuttle, which can also be applied to refrigerated and frozen environments. He said it will continue to expand its global business based on differentiated competitiveness that enables high-density, high-efficiency logistics operations.
