The Korea Communications Agency (KCA) said on Sunday it will overhaul eligibility requirements for the Information Security Risk Manager certification and the method of obtaining the Information Security Competency Test qualification.

The Information Security Risk Manager is a certification that verifies expert knowledge to proactively respond to cyber threats and the ability to make comprehensive judgments in risk situations. Previously, only those who had graduated or were expected to graduate from a four-year university, or those with equivalent qualifications, could apply. From 2026, the requirements will be eased so anyone with information security risk management capability can apply, without separate restrictions such as education or career history.

The Information Security Competency Test is a qualification that allows all citizens to assess basic information security literacy and capabilities to prevent and respond initially to security incidents in daily life. It will shift from a system that assigns levels 1 to 5 based on scores to a 900-point total score system with no separate levels. It will recognize the actual total score earned by applicants to improve the test results' ability to distinguish among candidates.

Applications for the first regular examination for the Information Security Risk Manager and the Information Security Competency Test will be accepted from April 27 to 29. The tests are scheduled to be held from May 18 to 20.
