KT said on April 12 that CEO Park Yoon-young (박윤영) visited the Busan KT International Telecommunications Centre on April 10 to inspect communications infrastructure connected to major continents and countries around the world.

The Busan KT International Telecommunications Centre is a landing station that handles most international internet traffic. A landing station is a gateway facility that brings international undersea cables ashore and connects them to domestic telecommunications networks and data infrastructure. KT currently operates five undersea cables, the largest number among domestic telecommunications operators. It also monitors landing station equipment and the condition of undersea cables in Asian countries.

Park visited the centre's control room and encouraged employees working to ensure stable operation of the global telecommunications network. He then checked operating conditions at the centre and asked it to fully play its role in building the best infrastructure and operating system so companies and customers can use AI services stably, as KT positions itself as an AX platform company.

Park said stable operation of international undersea cables is very important for South Korea to become an AI hub in Asia. He said the KT International Telecommunications Centre is a gateway that handles data traffic rising in the AI era and a very important main artery of global data communications.

Park, meanwhile, has continued site-focused communication management. He began by visiting the KT Network & Security Control Center right after taking office on March 31. On April 4, he carried out his first regional schedule with the Honam Network Headquarters, Corporate Sales Headquarters and group affiliates. On April 8, he met employees at the Total Sales Center at the KT Gunpo Tower in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province.
