X's standalone messaging app XChat will launch on April 17, local time, for iPhone and iPad, IT outlet 9to5Mac reported on April 10.
Confirmed App Store listings also showed the app icon, design previews and the release date. XChat is a separate messenger app designed to let users talk with anyone on X in a private chat space. It is provided without ads or tracking, and messages are protected with end-to-end encryption.
The preview includes features such as screenshot blocking, disappearing messages, group chats and video calls. XChat has been in testing since last year. Users can pre-order XChat on the App Store until its official release. The launch targets iPhone and iPad, and Android devices are not yet included.
