Woori Bank said on April 10 it will push ahead with the "Woori Osondoson" social contribution project to help grandparent-led families in welfare blind spots grow in a healthy way.

The project focuses on easing the burden on grandparents raising grandchildren and supporting a foundation for self-reliance by providing children with a pleasant living environment and tailored education opportunities.

Funding will come from the Woorisarang Fund, voluntarily created by about 4,000 Woori Bank employees. The fund, established in 2003, is run in a way that selects beneficiaries through employee voting.

The bank plans to improve housing conditions through measures such as replacing wallpaper and flooring, installing heating and cooling units, and replacing old furniture. It also plans to run education programmes including aptitude tests, support for academy and tutoring fees, and links to university student mentoring.

A Woori Bank official said, "We hope the children do not lose their dreams and grow into healthy members of society." The official added, "We will continue to provide practical support for neglected neighbours through the Woorisarang Fund."
