KT said on Wednesday it will expand a five-day vehicle rotation scheme to 318 offices nationwide to actively support the government's resource security crisis response policy.
KT has operated the scheme on its own at 68 offices. Under the new measure, it will add 250 more offices to widen the program. The weekday-based restrictions apply to vehicles of employees and visitors, including customers. Exemptions apply to vehicles for disabled people, vehicles carrying pregnant women or infants, business-use vehicles and night shift workers.
KT is also continuing a range of efforts to save energy beyond the vehicle scheme. It has applied technologies that improve energy efficiency in the operation of telecoms services, including an optimisation solution for cooling temperatures in telecom rooms, an energy-saving orchestrator and a server power optimisation solution. It also monitors equipment and energy use in KT buildings nationwide in real time through an integrated control center, and operates air conditioning and lighting equipment efficiently.
KT said, "We will continue to expand energy-efficiency solutions that incorporate AI technology, in addition to the five-day vehicle rotation scheme, to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality and overcoming the resource security crisis."
