Krafton said on Tuesday its subsidiary Overdare has applied in-house artificial intelligence (AI) agent technology to Overdare Studio and unveiled game production functions.

The newly released “Studio Agent” lets creators enter instructions in natural language in a chat window. The AI interprets them, controls the game editor and implements the game. Users can create games by entering commands.

The AI agent communicates with the editor and carries out the process of creating, editing and applying objects, including scripts. Creators proceed by checking the results and continuing to issue instructions.

The results can be checked in real time in the editor. Users can keep building by giving instructions to the AI. Object positioning and numerical adjustments can be edited manually in the editor. The company also unveiled an “AI Costume” function that automatically generates avatar outfit textures.

The technology is based on a custom Unreal Engine 5. The AI automatically generates and applies Lua scripts that control it. Creators can make games without knowledge of the engine structure or programming.

Overdare plans to advance its AI-based production functions. It aims to expand so the AI can handle art asset placement and level design in the future. Related functions are in live testing. It will decide whether to expand the service based on indicators.

An Overdare official said, “The key is changing the game production process through the AI agent,” and added, “We will continue to develop a production environment where ideas can be implemented.”
