Autonomous A2Z (A2Z), also known as A2Z, and HL Klemove will jointly develop HPC-based end-to-end Level 4 autonomous driving core technology. A2Z said on Tuesday it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with HL Klemove.
The companies agreed to base their cooperation on data from A2Z’s Level 4 autonomous shuttle ROii, which is undergoing demonstration operations around the Cheonggyecheon area. The partnership combines A2Z’s Level 4 autonomous driving platform, operating technology and urban demonstration data with HL Klemove’s radar, camera, high-performance controller (HPC), sensor fusion, perception and control technologies.
A2Z will lead system integration based on its urban driving experience and accumulated data, while HL Klemove will be responsible for core technologies needed to implement autonomous driving and integration capabilities. HL Klemove is an autonomous driving solutions company affiliated with HL Group and has technologies spanning the autonomous driving system, from sensors such as radar and cameras to HPC and software.
The partners will build an AI-based structure centered on HPC, covering sensor perception, driving decisions and vehicle control. They aim to secure the reliability and stability required in real driving environments and to gradually raise technical completeness with mass production in mind.
HL Klemove will use the cooperation to expand its autonomous driving system capabilities into the Level 4 autonomous driving field. It currently supplies autonomous driving and ADAS system solutions to major automakers worldwide and is advancing related technologies based on its global production and R&D bases.
Han Ji-hyung (한지형), CEO of A2Z, said, "Cooperation with HL Klemove has made it possible to secure a stable supply chain needed to develop autonomous vehicles and to develop more precise technology." He said, "Based on real driving data A2Z has accumulated in major urban centers nationwide, we will implement highly complete Level 4 autonomous driving technology and, based on this, expand our influence in global markets as well."
