SK Telecom said on Tuesday it has been selected as an excellent company for the third consecutive year in the Large and Small Enterprise Safety and Health Cooperation Programme overseen by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.

The programme supports large companies and public enterprises, along with their partner firms, when they form a consortium and carry out voluntary safety and health improvement activities.

SKT was the only telecom operator selected as an excellent company and was also recognised this year for the third straight year. The company received high marks for a range of communication efforts, including one-on-one tailored consulting support for partner firms and developing AI-based safety and health solutions.

SKT provides partner firms with tailored practical training, including measures to improve on-site risk assessments and safety rules for high-risk work. It also supports consulting for partner firms seeking ISO certification for safety and health management systems or aiming to improve their SH safety and health evaluation rating.

SKT has also developed a drone inspection and AI analysis system to prevent accidents during base station checks. It has developed and is using a vision AI safety management solution that automatically detects emergencies on stairs or in elevators.

Ryu Jeong-hwan (류정환), SKT's chief safety and health officer, said, "With the recognition that our partners' safety is SKT's safety, we will spare no support so members at worksites can carry out their duties safely."
