Wiseapp Retail, an app and payment data-based market analysis solution, said on April 7 that Coupang’s estimated payment amount last month, excluding Coupang Eats, was 57.1 trillion won. That was up 12 percent from 51.1 trillion won the previous month.
The number of app users also showed a recovery trend. Monthly users of the Coupang app last month totaled 33.45 million, up 1 percent from 33.12 million the previous month. Wiseapp Retail analyzed the result as the first rebound after three consecutive months of declines following the impact of a personal information leak.
The survey is a sample study of Korean Android and iOS smartphone users conducted by Wiseapp Retail, a real-time app and payment data-based market and competitor analysis solution. The payment amount was estimated from a sample survey of amounts paid for the service using Koreans’ credit and debit cards, based on entries shown in consumers’ payment histories.
Amounts paid by bank transfer, cash transactions and gift certificates were not included. Wiseapp Retail explained that the figures differ from companies’ actual sales.
