KakaoPay said on Tuesday it has introduced a personalised "Spending Report" feature to its generative AI service PayAi.

"Find my benefits with AI" analyses a user's cards and KakaoPay benefits to recommend the most advantageous payment method at checkout. The update expands the service beyond pre-payment recommendations to include post-payment analysis of spending patterns.

The newly added spending report analyses MyData-based transaction history to summarise spending patterns on a weekly and monthly basis and provide tailored feedback. It also calculates and shows benefits that can actually be saved, going beyond simple spending statistics.

For example, it presents how much additional savings would have been possible if a different card had been used for a specific payment, encouraging users to improve their spending.

Users can use the weekly report to review short-term spending habits and the monthly report to comprehensively check overall spending flows and the status of benefit usage.

KakaoPay said it introduced the feature to help users reflect on spending and choose better benefits on their next payment. It said it will develop it into a financial agent that proposes personalised benefits and spending strategies before users ask.
