Top Material will supply a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery production line to Turkish battery company Aspilsan. Top Material said on April 6 it signed a turnkey supply contract with Turkish energy company Aspilsan Enerji to build an LFP battery cell manufacturing line. The contract is worth about 7.9 billion won ($5.2 million).
Aspilsan is a battery and energy specialist that supplies batteries for drones and energy storage systems (ESS) with support from the Turkish government. It is the first in Europe to succeed in mass production of cylindrical batteries, and supplies battery solutions across a wide range of areas, including defense and industrial power systems.
The scope of supply under the contract covers the full manufacturing line for LFP battery cell production. Top Material will handle the process in full, from design and equipment supply to installation, commissioning and software provision. The two companies agreed to expand cooperation in the future to enter the European market.
Top Material plans to support building a customer-tailored production system in the project, based on its system engineering capabilities across the full cylindrical battery cell production line.
A Top Material official said, "This contract is an achievement secured based on our technological capabilities in building secondary battery manufacturing lines and our global business competitiveness," and added, "We plan to continue expanding overseas business centered on Turkey through an ongoing partnership with Aspilsan."
