NHN KCP said on Wednesday it has signed a strategic partnership with Mercedes pay, the fintech subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, and will take exclusive charge of vehicle sales payment infrastructure for Mercedes-Benz Korea.
Mercedes pay is the digital payments unit of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and supports vehicle purchases and service payments in more than 45 markets worldwide. Since its launch in 2018, it has provided payment services across areas including online store and in-app payments, in-car payments, and payments of vehicle reservation deposits and final balances.
Under the partnership, NHN KCP will participate as Mercedes pay's technology partner in South Korea and handle the entire payment process for Mercedes-Benz Korea's new sales method, Retail of the Future (RoF), to be introduced in April.
RoF is a sales model in which the importer directly manages vehicle inventory and prices so customers can buy cars on the same terms anywhere nationwide. NHN KCP built an integrated payment solution to support it.
The system links the entire process from vehicle reservations to final balance payments in a single flow. Customers can receive a consistent payment experience across online and offline channels.
It also supports major simplified payment services at the reservation stage and offers virtual account and credit card-based payment methods for final balance payments. It applied the PASS identity verification system to the payment process to enhance security and convenience.
An NHN KCP official said the collaboration with Mercedes pay will provide a payment environment optimized for Mercedes-Benz Korea customers. The official said the company will build a stable and consistent payment experience throughout the premium car purchase process.
