ElevenLabs, a startup specialising in AI audio research and development, said on Monday it will run a proof-of-concept with WITZ, a startup specialising in character brands and publicity-rights IP licensing, to train and use the voice of voice actor Bae Han-seong (배한성) in AI.

Under the project, WITZ will lead the design of licensing and usage models for Bae’s voice IP, while ElevenLabs will use its AI text-to-speech technology in the voice generation process.

During the PoC period, WITZ plans to verify legal licensing of celebrity voices and the feasibility of AI-based voice generation and use. It also plans to confirm the potential to expand into areas including advertising, content, education and voice services.

Sang-won Hong (홍상원), head of ElevenLabs Korea, said the AI-based PoC with WITZ is a good opportunity to show that ElevenLabs’ technology can be smoothly implemented across a range of real-world settings. He said the company will actively support businesses in using its AI technologies, including voice synthesis and voice recognition, smoothly in a variety of work settings.
