Google DeepMind said on Feb. 24 it will hold the offline hackathon, the "Gemini 3 Seoul Hackathon", in Seoul on Feb. 28 for local developers.

The event is co-hosted by Google DeepMind, Google AI Futures Fund and Attention X. It is the fourth to be held in the Asia-Pacific region, following Singapore, India and Japan. It will run in a "Production Sprint" format to build real working applications using Google's latest AI model, Gemini 3.

Participants must deploy an application that can run on Google Cloud Platform on the day of the event. They can use Google's agentic development platform Antigravity, AI Studio and Vertex AI, among others. Engineers from Google DeepMind and Google Developer Experts will provide real-time technical support on site.

The total prize pool is about 220 million won ($150,000) worth of Gemini API credits. Top teams will also receive a 30-minute video mentoring opportunity with founders of Google AI Futures Fund.

The event will be held in Seoul from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Feb. 28, and only those who apply in advance and are approved can participate. Teams can have up to 4 members.

A Google official said, "We hope to see outcomes that can create real business impact beyond simple competition."
