[Digital Today reporter Seul-gi Son] Online video service (OTT) Wavve said on Tuesday it will apply HDR video technology Dolby Vision and immersive audio technology Dolby Atmos to broadcasts of all Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) and Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Tour events. It starts with the 2026 KLPGA Tour season-opening event, The Siena Open 2026, which begins on April 2.
Wavve said this is the first time both technologies have been applied simultaneously to sports live broadcasts across domestic broadcasting and streaming services.
Dolby Vision boosts peak brightness and contrast ratio to deliver video closer to what the eye sees. Given the nature of golf broadcasts held outdoors, it can clearly convey subtle differences in colour on the course and the ball's trajectory even as weather changes. Dolby Atmos places sound in a three-dimensional space, including overhead, to heighten a sense of presence.
The service is available through the Wavve app for smart TVs such as LG, Samsung, Android and Apple TV devices that support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Kim Tae-hyung (김태형), head of Wavve's platform technology group, said, "Through cooperation with Dolby, we will provide Wavve's differentiated sports viewing experience and support fans so they can fully enjoy the emotion of the field."
