Content platform company Ridi said on Tuesday its 2025 consolidated revenue rose 7 percent from a year earlier to 251.6 billion won. It posted an operating loss of 26.2 billion won, citing the impact of expanded new investment including in its short-drama platform.
Last year, Ridi increased revenue in the comics genre by more than 30 percent from a year earlier. Ahead of the release of the Demon Slayer theatrical film, revenue from the original comics rose 1,800 percent from the previous month, and Chainsaw Man rose 2,000 percent.
Global webtoon service Manta introduced a hybrid business model combining a subscription model with per-title purchases. It expanded its content scope by introducing a serialized web novel service and doubled the number of titles on the service from a year earlier.
Ridi launched global short-drama platform Kanta as it moved to expand story formats. Kanta released 100 original titles last year. Large initial investment costs for production and service operations affected the overall consolidated operating loss.
Ridi CEO Bae Gi-sik (배기식) said, "Last year we continued our core businesses centered on 'Ridi' and 'Manta' and expanded into new intellectual property (IP) business areas." He said, "Going forward, we plan to strengthen our growth foundation based on IP."
