KakaoGames said on Monday it is operating employee welfare programmes tailored to key times of the year, including the start of the school year and the year-end.
To mark the new school year, KakaoGames has provided school-entry gifts every year since 2017 to cheer employees’ children who are about to start school.
This year, it delivered items to help with school life to children who will enter primary school, including a backpack and accessory bag set, a wristwatch, a bouquet of “Kakao Friends” plush dolls and a celebratory banner. For children entering middle school, high school or university, it gave department store vouchers so they can freely purchase items needed for their studies.
KakaoGames is adding enjoyment to employees’ daily lives through gifts that match seasonal concepts. It previously provided carnation balloons in May, ice cream during the dog days of summer in August, and hotel bakery sets at year-end in December. In February this year, it introduced “Dubai chewy cookies” in a surprise event at its in-house cafe.
It is also running welfare programmes to support important moments for employees and their families. It gives skin and hair care sets and a pregnancy and childbirth book package to employees who are pregnant or whose spouses are pregnant, and it provides diapers and clothing sets after childbirth.
A KakaoGames official said, “We are running timely welfare programmes such as for the new school year and year-end so that employees can feel enjoyment in their daily lives.” The official added, “We plan to continue seeking support measures that can provide small enjoyment and help in employees’ daily lives.”
KakaoGames was selected as a “2024 South Korea work-life balance best company” in recognition of efforts to build a balanced organisational culture. Since 2017, it has also continuously obtained the “family-friendly certification” overseen by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and since 2022 it has continued to receive the “leisure-friendly certification” overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
