South Korean President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) has approved the appointment and commissioning of four members of the Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission.

Blue House spokesperson Kang Yu-jung (강유정) said so on Monday.

The newly appointed members are standing member Ko Min-su, non-standing member Yoon Sung-ok, both recommended by the ruling party, and non-standing members Lee Sang-geun and Choi Soo-young, recommended by the opposition.

Their terms run from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2029, for three years.

The approvals give the commission a six-member lineup including Chairman Kim Jong-cheol and non-standing member Ryu Shin-hwan, who were previously nominated as presidential appointees. Of the seven seats, only one standing-member post recommended by the People Power Party remains vacant.

The commission consists of seven members: three standing members including the chairman and vice chairman, and four non-standing members. The president nominates two members including the chairman, the ruling party recommends two and the opposition recommends three, and the president appoints and commissions them.

Launched in October last year, the commission has been largely inactive due to delays in forming the panel. With the six-member lineup completed, normal operations are expected to become possible.
