Coupang said on Monday it will sell physical gift cards exclusively at 7-Eleven stores nationwide. It is the first time Coupang has sold physical gift cards. A gift card for food delivery service Coupang Eats will be launched on April 8.

Coupang gift cards go on sale at 7-Eleven stores nationwide from Monday. Customers can set an amount from 10,000 won to 300,000 won in 1,000-won increments and then buy the card.

Coupang said it plans to broaden the range of products and services that can be purchased through gift cards. When the Coupang Eats gift card is launched next month, it can be used for Rocket Delivery products, the luxury beauty service R.LUX, fresh food under Premium Fresh and Coupang Eats delivered food. The gift card amount can be converted to Coupang Cash in the Coupang app. The validity period is 5 years after registration.

Earlier, Coupang entered its e-gift cards into Kakao Gifts in September last year and expanded its business-to-business sales channels. According to Coupang, customer satisfaction for Coupang e-gift cards on Kakao Gifts stands at 98 to 100 percent, and about 40,000 five-star reviews have accumulated in the Coupang app.

The company said demand through B2B channels is also continuing. Companies such as major financial firms and telecoms are buying in bulk for employee welfare and marketing promotions.

A Coupang official said the company worked with 7-Eleven to introduce physical cards so customers can conveniently buy and give gift cards in offline locations as well as online. The official said Coupang will continue to reflect customer feedback to broaden choices and provide various services that improve shopping convenience.
